Regardless of plowing, tilling, and hoeing,
It just comes up and refuses to be rooted out.
You can pull on it and sometimes the tops come off
But those roots just won't be budged!
It's gotta be Appalachian.
If you pull and wiggle and then jerk with all your might
You may be able to pull a clump of it up
Especially when it's real muddy
(You can pull it up a little easter then
but it brings the dirt and everything with it.
It just won't turn loose.
If you do manage to pull a clump of it up
Next time you look, it's put roots back down and took off growing again
Even if you turn the roots up to the sun thinkin' to cook'em
If you leave that clump of grass in the dirt it manages to root right back in.
It's gotta be Appalachian!
I've battled it all summer, thinkin' that grass would smother out my veggies
Especially my green beans.
Now the garden is past its peak
But that grass is in its prime, tall and deep green and stronger than it was in spring
When I first started trying to keep it from growing where it wanted to.
It's gotta be Appalachian!
