The 70th General Convention meeting in Columbus this June adopted a budget that included $50,000 for the triennium (2007 - 2009) for Episcopal Appalachian Ministries and a new line item of $70,000 for the triennium for Appalachian Initiatives.
The budget figure for EAM is an increase of $2060.00 over the current triennium. At this point the method of awarding and administering the new line item category has not been finalized.
General Convention Approves Appalachian Ministry Funding
EAM is deeply appreciative of the affirmation of our ministry and the commitment of the Episcopal Church to the people of Appalachia shown in the appropriation of the new Appalachian Initiatives line item.
We also want to thank all the people who wrote to the office and to various members of Executive Council and the Program, Budget and Finance Committee in support of Appalachian funding, as well as those who testified so eloquently on our behalf at the Convention..
