Gordon Brewer began as Executive Coordinator for EAM in January of 2010. Gordon is a vocational deacon in the Diocese of East Tennessee and has spent the past 20 years living and working in Appalachia. Prior to taking the position as Executive Coordinator for EAM, Gordon worked as a clinical program consultant for a non-profit mental health provider serving families and children living in the Appalachian region. Gordon serves as deacon for St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Kingsport, TN. Gordon is married to Mary “Sister” Brewer and they have one daughter, Rebecca. Gordon is a licensed marital and family therapist and is in private practice half-time in addition to his duties with EAM.

The Rev. Scott Allen

The Rev. Scott Allen is Rector of St. Andrew’s Church, Allentown, PA and was raised in West Virginia. A graduate of WVU and Yale Divinity School. In the Diocese of Bethlehem, I serve on the Standing Committee, Chair the Safe Spaces Committee which deals with LGBT issues, Appalachian Issues and Racism Issues and Co-Chair the Congregational Renewal Committee of the Diocese. I am an Anti-Racism trainer. I am a General Convention Deputy (2012) and have had the honor of serving on the Board of Governors from the dioceses of West Virginia, North Carolina and Bethlehem in my ministry. I represent EAM on The Consultation. I have two children –Zach (16) and Olivia (24) and live with my partner, David, and a miniature schnauzer, Martini.

A member of St James Episcopal Church in Knoxville TN, has volunteered in Northeastern Tennessee as a family and children’s advocate since 1998. Harry has served on the board of the Mountain Women’s Exchange, Woodland Development Corporation, a land trust, and Appalachian Ministries Resource Team in the Diocese of East Tennessee. He has served as a volunteer for CASA since 2000 and a member of the East Tennessee Behavioral Advisory Committee. Harry was awarded the 2010 Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award from the Virginia Theological Seminary for ministry of the laity in the church and beyond. Prior to retiring in 1997, Harry was a businessman working in Europe and the United States .Harry has six children and ten grandchildren.
