Appalachia is served by a network of multicounty development districts established under the Appalachian Development Act of 1965. To locate the Area Development District (ADD) for your area go to www.arc.gov.
There is also a network of non-profit comminity development organizations in Appalachia that focuses on housing, job creation, and general community development. To find out about these efforts and advocacy for economic development in your area, contact your local extension agent.
